1. Our Commitment to Accessibility
Different Path Education Support is committed to making our website, communication and educational services as accessible and inclusive as reasonably possible.
We believe that everyone deserves an opportunity to access learning and support in a way that recognises their individual strengths, needs and circumstances.
We understand that accessibility is not the same for everyone. Individuals may experience different barriers relating to disability, neurodivergence, communication, physical access or other circumstances.
We aim to identify and reduce these barriers wherever reasonably possible.

2. Website Accessibility
We aim to make our website accessible to the widest possible range of visitors, including people who use assistive technologies.
Our approach includes:
• Using clear and straightforward language.
• Organising information with appropriate headings.
• Providing readable text and suitable colour contrast.
• Using descriptive links and navigation labels.
• Providing alternative text for meaningful images.
• Avoiding unnecessary visual or sensory distractions.
• Supporting keyboard navigation where reasonably possible.
• Making information accessible on different screen sizes and devices.
• Providing alternative formats where reasonably possible.
We aim to work towards the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA.
We recognise that some areas of the website may require further accessibility improvements.

3. Accessibility of Educational Services
Different Path Education Support provides individually tailored tutoring, mentoring and educational support.
We recognise that individuals may require adjustments to access and participate meaningfully in sessions.
Depending on individual needs, support may include:
• Adapted learning materials.
• Visual timetables and structured activities.
• Alternative communication methods.
• Additional processing time.
• Movement and sensory breaks.
• Flexible learning approaches.
• Assistive technology where appropriate.
• Adjustments to the pace and duration of activities.
• Clear routines and predictable expectations.
• Alternative methods of demonstrating understanding.
We aim to work collaboratively with learners, parents, carers and relevant professionals to identify suitable adjustments.

4. Supporting Neurodivergent Individuals
Different Path Education Support recognises that neurodivergent individuals may experience differences in communication, sensory processing, attention, organisation and learning.
We aim to provide respectful, strengths-based and individualised support.
We recognise that people with similar diagnoses may have very different needs and preferences.
Where appropriate, adjustments may include reduced sensory demands, clear instructions, visual information, predictable routines and flexible communication approaches.

5. Communication Accessibility
We understand that not everyone finds telephone conversations, written communication or face-to-face discussions equally accessible.
Where reasonably possible, we will accommodate preferred communication methods and support individuals to express their needs.
This may include:
• Email communication.
• Written explanations.
• Plain-English summaries.
• Visual information.
• Additional response time.
• Alternative communication aids.
• Appropriate involvement of a representative, parent or carer.
Communication preferences will be considered alongside safeguarding, confidentiality and professional requirements.

6. Physical Accessibility
Different Path Education Support may provide services in learners' homes, community settings, educational establishments and other agreed venues.
Where physical access requirements are identified, these will be considered when arranging provision.
The accessibility of venues may vary, particularly where locations are owned or managed by third parties.
Where a venue presents an accessibility barrier, reasonable alternative arrangements will be explored.
This may include using a different suitable venue, adapting provision or considering remote support where appropriate.
All arrangements remain subject to safeguarding and individual risk assessments.

7. Reasonable Adjustments
Different Path Education Support recognises its responsibilities under the Equality Act 2010.
We will consider accessibility barriers proactively and make reasonable adjustments where required.
Adjustments will be considered in relation to the needs of individuals, the nature of services and the practical circumstances.
We will not charge disabled individuals an additional fee solely for reasonable adjustments that we are legally required to provide.
Where a requested arrangement is not suitable or practicable, alternative reasonable approaches will be considered.

8. Accessibility of Documents and Resources
We aim to make educational materials and information accessible wherever reasonably possible.
This may include:
• Clear fonts and readable text sizes.
• Appropriate spacing and layout.
• Simplified language where suitable.
• Accessible digital documents.
• Visual information and supporting illustrations.
• Alternative ways of presenting information.
• Adjusted learning resources.
Where someone experiences difficulty accessing a document or resource, we encourage them to contact us so that suitable alternatives can be explored.

9. Reporting an Accessibility Problem
We welcome feedback about accessibility barriers affecting our website, communication or services.
If you experience difficulty accessing information or require an alternative format, please contact:

Amy Louise Herbert
Different Path Education Support
Email: enquiries@differentpatheducationsupport.com

Please describe the difficulty experienced and, where possible, the information or service you are trying to access.

10. Complaints
Concerns about accessibility, discrimination or reasonable adjustments can be raised through our Complaints Policy.
Complaints will be handled fairly, respectfully and without disadvantage to the person raising the concern.

11. Monitoring and Improvement
Different Path Education Support aims to improve accessibility as the business develops.
We will consider feedback from learners, families, website visitors and commissioning organisations.

Version: 1.0
Last reviewed: 11 October 2026

1. Our Cancellation Policy
Different Path Education Support understands that circumstances can change and that clients may occasionally need to cancel or rearrange sessions.
We aim to maintain a fair and flexible approach while protecting time reserved for individual learners.
Our standard cancellation notice period is 24 hours.

2. Cancellations With 24 Hours' Notice
Where a client provides at least 24 hours' notice:
• No late-cancellation charge will apply.
• The session may be rearranged, subject to availability.
• Any advance payment will normally be refunded or credited towards a future session.

3. Cancellations With Less Than 24 Hours' Notice
Where less than 24 hours' notice is provided, a cancellation charge of up to 50% of the agreed session fee may apply.
Any charge will be reasonable and proportionate to the actual loss caused by the cancellation, taking account of any costs saved and reasonable opportunities to offer the time to another client.
Charges will not be imposed as penalties.

4. Illness and Exceptional Circumstances
We recognise that illness, emergencies and unexpected circumstances can affect attendance.
Particular consideration will be given to:
• Sudden illness or medical emergencies.
• SEND-related difficulties or changes in needs.
• Family emergencies.
• Safeguarding concerns.
• Other significant unforeseen circumstances.
Cancellation charges may be reduced or waived following individual consideration.

5. Non-Attendance
Where a client does not attend an agreed session and has not provided notice, the late-cancellation arrangements may apply.
Relevant circumstances will be considered before a charge is applied.

6. Cancellation by Different Path Education Support
If Different Path Education Support needs to cancel a session, the client will be informed as soon as reasonably possible.
An alternative appointment will be offered where appropriate and available.
Where a suitable alternative cannot be agreed, any payment for the undelivered session will be refunded.
This does not affect statutory rights to other remedies.

7. Refunds and Advance Payments
Payment arrangements are agreed individually before services commence.
Where a refund is due, it will normally be issued through the original payment method.
Statutory refunds will be processed within the applicable legal timeframe.
Advance payments will not be retained for services that have not been provided unless a lawful and fair cancellation charge or another contractual entitlement applies.

8. Statutory Consumer Cancellation Rights
Consumers entering qualifying distance or off-premises service contracts will normally have a statutory 14-day cancellation period.
Where clients request that services begin during this period, the required information and express request will be obtained before provision begins.
Any payment due for services delivered before a valid statutory cancellation will be calculated in accordance with applicable consumer legislation.
Statutory cancellation rights take precedence over our standard 24-hour cancellation arrangements.

9. Commissioned Services
Where services are commissioned by schools, local authorities or other organisations, separate contractual cancellation, payment and refund arrangements may apply.
These will be agreed in writing before provision begins.

Where a complaint concerns the proprietor, the matter will be considered fairly and objectively.
Where appropriate, independent professional advice or review may be sought.
Complainants may also contact a commissioning organisation, relevant statutory authority or other appropriate external body where that body has jurisdiction.
Different Path Education Support will not prevent individuals from exercising their legal rights or seeking independent advice.

10. Complaints Relating to Commissioned Services
Where support has been commissioned by a school, local authority or another organisation, additional complaints arrangements may apply.
These arrangements will be confirmed in the relevant commissioning agreement.
Where appropriate, complaints may be referred to or considered jointly with the commissioning organisation, subject to safeguarding and confidentiality requirements.

11. Confidentiality and Data Protection
Complaints will be handled sensitively and confidentially.
Personal information will only be shared where necessary and lawful.
Complaint records will be securely stored and retained in accordance with our Privacy Notice and internal records retention arrangements.

Reasonable adjustments may include:
• Accepting verbal complaints.

No individual will receive less favourable treatment because they have raised a complaint.

Complaints provide an opportunity to review and improve services.
Where appropriate, we will consider whether a complaint identifies a need to improve communication, policies, planning or professional practice.
Relevant improvements will be made where reasonably practicable.

14. Policy Monitoring and Review
This policy will be reviewed annually or sooner if legislation, service arrangements or identified concerns require changes.

1. Our Commitment to Inclusive Education
Different Path Education Support believes that every individual deserves the opportunity to learn, develop and achieve in an environment where they feel safe, valued, respected and understood.
We believe education should adapt to the learner, not the learner to the system.
We recognise that traditional educational approaches do not meet everyone's needs and that learning is not a one-size-fits-all process.
Our aim is to provide flexible, person-centred and inclusive educational support that recognises each individual's strengths, challenges, experiences and aspirations.
We promote dignity, independence, equality of opportunity and meaningful participation in learning.

2. Purpose of This Policy
This policy outlines our approach to:
• Inclusive teaching and learning.
• Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
• Neurodiversity and communication differences.
• Individualised learning and reasonable adjustments.
• Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
• Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
• Alternative provision and educational reintegration.
• Trauma-informed and relationship-based practice.
• Supporting adults with additional learning needs.
• Working collaboratively with families and professionals.
• Recognising individual progress and achievement.

3. Our Inclusive Approach
Different Path Education Support recognises that individuals learn at different rates, in different ways and within different environments.
We aim to adapt provision to the needs of the individual rather than expecting every learner to meet identical expectations.
Our approach may include:
• Individual learning plans and achievable targets.
• Flexible teaching methods.
• Practical and interest-based activities.
• Visual supports and structured routines.
• Alternative communication strategies.
• Sensory and movement breaks.
• Adapted learning resources.
• Additional processing time.
• Appropriate assistive technology.
• Flexible assessment methods.
• Positive and supportive relationships.
We aim to create environments where individuals can experience success, develop confidence and participate meaningfully.

4. Supporting Special Educational Needs and Disabilities
Different Path Education Support welcomes enquiries from individuals with a wide range of SEND and additional needs.
These may include:
• Autism and other neurodevelopmental differences.
• Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
• Dyslexia, dyscalculia and other specific learning differences.
• Speech, language and communication needs.
• Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs.
• Sensory processing differences.
• Physical disabilities.
• Cognition and learning difficulties.
• Complex or multiple additional needs.
We recognise that a diagnosis does not define an individual and that people with similar diagnoses may have very different strengths and support requirements.
We aim to identify and reduce barriers to learning through suitable teaching strategies, reasonable adjustments and individualised planning.
Provision remains subject to professional competence, safeguarding, appropriate resources and individual risk assessment.

5. Education, Health and Care Plans
Different Path Education Support may provide educational support to children and young people with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
Where appropriate and authorised, we will review relevant information within an EHCP to understand the learner's educational needs, identified outcomes and agreed support arrangements.
Educational activities may be designed to contribute towards appropriate agreed outcomes.
We may provide progress information to parents, carers, schools, local authorities or commissioners where authorised and appropriate.
Different Path Education Support does not replace the statutory responsibilities of local authorities, schools or other bodies responsible for securing EHCP provision.
Any specific commissioned responsibilities will be agreed in writing.

6. Individual Assessment and Planning
Where appropriate, initial information gathering and baseline activities will be used to understand a learner's strengths, needs, interests and starting points.
This may include:
• Discussions with learners and families.
• Review of relevant educational information.
• Observation of learning and communication.
• Informal assessments.
• Identification of interests and motivating activities.
• Consideration of accessibility and sensory needs.
• Identification of relevant learning and development targets.
Individual plans will be proportionate to the service agreed.
Learning activities and targets will be reviewed and adapted according to progress, engagement and emerging needs.

7. Neurodiversity-Affirming Practice
Different Path Education Support recognises neurodiversity as part of natural human variation.
We aim to respect differences in communication, attention, sensory processing, emotional regulation and learning.
Our approach seeks to:
• Recognise individual strengths.
• Respect communication preferences.
• Avoid unnecessary pressure to conform to typical behaviours.
• Support choice and self-advocacy.
• Make reasonable sensory and environmental adjustments.
• Use clear, predictable and accessible communication.
• Support independence and confidence.
We will not assume that eye contact, stillness, verbal communication or conventional classroom behaviour is necessary to demonstrate engagement or learning.

8. Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs
We recognise that emotional wellbeing can significantly influence an individual's ability to engage with education.
Learners may experience anxiety, low confidence, emotional regulation difficulties, school-related distress or other barriers.
Different Path Education Support aims to provide calm, predictable and supportive learning environments.
Approaches may include:
• Developing trusting professional relationships.
• Clear expectations and routines.
• Flexible pacing.
• Emotional regulation strategies.
• Opportunities for breaks.
• Positive encouragement.
• Collaborative approaches to difficulties.
• Reducing avoidable stress and demands.
Educational mentoring is not a replacement for clinical mental health assessment, counselling or specialist therapeutic intervention.
Where concerns exceed the scope of our services, appropriate advice, signposting or safeguarding action will be considered.

9. Trauma-Informed and Relationship-Based Practice
Different Path Education Support recognises that adverse experiences, disrupted education and challenging circumstances may affect an individual's sense of safety, relationships and engagement with learning.
We aim to use a trauma-informed approach that prioritises:
• Emotional and physical safety.
• Trust and consistency.
• Choice and appropriate control.
• Respect and dignity.
• Predictability.
• Collaborative problem-solving.
• Recognition of individual experiences.
We aim to avoid unnecessarily punitive, humiliating or confrontational practices.
We do not assume that all difficulties arise from trauma or attempt to provide specialist trauma therapy unless separately qualified and appropriately contracted to do so.

10. Positive Behaviour Support
Different Path Education Support recognises that behaviour may communicate unmet needs, anxiety, frustration, sensory overload or difficulties with communication.
We aim to understand the reasons behind behaviour rather than focusing solely on compliance.
Strategies may include:
• Clear and consistent routines.
• Appropriate choices.
• Visual communication.
• Adjusted activities and expectations.
• Opportunities for movement.
• Sensory adjustments.
• Positive reinforcement.
• De-escalation.
• Collaborative problem-solving.
Restrictive practices and physical intervention are not used as routine methods of behaviour management.

Individuals will not be charged additional fees solely for reasonable adjustments that the law requires us to make.
Our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Policy and Accessibility Statement provide further information.

17. Safeguarding and Individual Risk Assessments
All provision will be delivered in accordance with our Safeguarding Children and Adults Policy.
Individual risk assessments will be undertaken where appropriate to identify and manage relevant needs and risks.
For face-to-face sessions involving learners under 18, a responsible adult must remain on site throughout.
The level of direct supervision will be individually risk-assessed.
For online sessions involving under-18s, supervision arrangements will be determined through an individual risk assessment, with a responsible adult immediately contactable and able to provide appropriate assistance.
Sessions will not proceed where appropriate safeguarding arrangements cannot be maintained.

18. Confidentiality and Information Sharing
Personal information, educational records and SEND-related information will be handled in accordance with applicable UK data protection legislation.

1. Policy Statement
Different Path Education Support is committed to delivering safe, professional, accessible and inclusive online tutoring, mentoring and educational support.
We recognise that online provision can provide valuable opportunities for learners who experience barriers to accessing traditional educational environments.
Safeguarding, confidentiality, professional boundaries and the wellbeing of individuals remain priorities throughout all online services.

2. Scope
This policy applies to:
• Online tutoring and educational support.
• SEND and EHCP-related learning support.
• Online mentoring and personal development.
• Alternative provision delivered remotely.
• Adult learning and employability support.
• Online consultations with families and professionals.
• Services commissioned by schools, local authorities and other organisations.

3. Online Platforms and Technology
Sessions will take place using an agreed professional communication platform appropriate to the service and individual needs.
Different Path Education Support will take reasonable steps to protect access to online sessions and prevent unauthorised participation.
Session links and communication details will be shared through agreed professional channels.
Participants are expected to have suitable equipment, internet access and an appropriate environment.
Technical difficulties will be addressed reasonably and in accordance with our Terms and Conditions.

4. Safeguarding and Supervision of Children and Young People
Online sessions involving learners under 18 will be subject to individual safeguarding and supervision risk assessments.
The assessment will consider:
• The learner's age and developmental needs.
• SEND and EHCP requirements.
• Communication needs and emotional wellbeing.
• Known safeguarding risks and vulnerabilities.
• Online safety awareness.
• Medical or emergency support needs.
• The suitability of the online learning environment.
• The learner's ability to seek help independently.
• The availability of an appropriate responsible adult.
• Any relevant commissioning requirements.
A responsible adult must be identified before online sessions begin.
The responsible adult must be immediately contactable and able to provide appropriate assistance when required.
The responsible adult does not automatically need to remain in the same room or building, provided the individual risk assessment demonstrates that the arrangements are appropriate and safe.
Before provision begins, emergency contact arrangements and procedures for loss of communication will be agreed and documented.
Where an assessment identifies a need for direct adult supervision or immediate physical assistance, arrangements must ensure that this support is available throughout the session.
If appropriate safeguarding or emergency arrangements cannot be maintained, the session will be postponed, adapted or discontinued.
Parental agreement alone does not replace the requirement for an appropriate risk assessment.

5. Professional Communication and Boundaries
All communication will remain professional, respectful and relevant to the agreed service.
Different Path Education Support will:
• Use agreed professional communication channels.
• Avoid communicating privately with children through personal social media accounts.
• Maintain appropriate professional relationships and boundaries.
• Avoid unnecessary personal disclosures.
• Keep contact outside sessions proportionate and service-related.
• Agree communication arrangements with parents, carers or commissioners where appropriate.
• Respond promptly to safeguarding concerns.

6. Cameras, Audio and Privacy
Camera and microphone arrangements will reflect the service, individual accessibility requirements and safeguarding considerations.
We recognise that some learners may experience sensory difficulties, anxiety or communication barriers associated with camera use.
Reasonable adjustments will be considered where appropriate.
Participants should use an environment that supports privacy and avoid unnecessarily displaying personal or confidential information.

7. Recordings and Screenshots
Online sessions will not routinely be recorded.
Where a recording is proposed, the purpose, lawful basis, required permissions, storage arrangements, access and retention period will be established in advance.
Participants must not record, photograph, capture screenshots of or distribute session content without appropriate agreement or another lawful justification.
Recordings will not be used for promotional purposes without appropriate separate permission.

8. SEND, Neurodiversity and Accessibility
Different Path Education Support recognises that online learning presents different opportunities and challenges for individuals with SEND, disabilities and neurodivergent learning profiles.
Reasonable adjustments may include:
• Visual supports and instructions.
• Shorter activities and regular breaks.
• Alternative communication methods.
• Additional processing time.
• Adapted teaching approaches.
• Flexible camera arrangements.
• Accessible screen-sharing and learning resources.
• Sensory considerations.
• Alternative ways of demonstrating learning.
Support will be individually tailored wherever reasonably possible.

9. Appropriate Behaviour
All participants are expected to communicate respectfully.
Threatening, discriminatory, abusive or sexually inappropriate behaviour will not be tolerated.
Where behaviour presents a safeguarding concern, a session may be paused or ended.
We recognise that anxiety, distress, sensory overload and communication difficulties may affect behaviour. Appropriate adjustments and de-escalation strategies will be considered.

10. Safeguarding Concerns and Emergencies
Where a safeguarding concern arises during an online session, Different Path Education Support will follow its Safeguarding Children and Adults Policy.
Actions may include:
• Listening calmly and taking disclosures seriously.
• Avoiding leading questions.
• Recording concerns factually.
• Contacting the agreed responsible adult where appropriate and safe.
• Referring concerns to safeguarding professionals.
• Contacting emergency services where required.
The learner's location and appropriate emergency contact information will be established in advance so that assistance can be arranged where necessary.
If a learner disconnects unexpectedly and there is a concern for their safety, the agreed emergency communication and escalation procedure will be followed.
Safeguarding action will take priority over continuation of the session.

11. Technical Difficulties
Where technical problems affect a session, reasonable efforts will be made to restore communication.
Where a substantial part of a session cannot be delivered, appropriate arrangements may include replacement time, credit or a refund.
Any financial adjustments will be considered in accordance with the Terms and Conditions and applicable consumer rights.

12. Confidentiality and Data Protection
Personal information shared during online sessions will be handled in accordance with applicable UK data protection legislation.
Electronic business and learner records are stored using Google Drive with appropriate security and access controls.
Information will only be shared where appropriate and lawful.
Safeguarding records will receive additional protection, and relevant concerns may be shared with statutory agencies where necessary.
Further details are available in our Privacy Notice.

13. Commissioned Online Provision
Where online services are commissioned by a school, local authority or other organisation, relevant contractual and safeguarding arrangements will be followed.
These may include approved online platforms, attendance procedures, information-sharing arrangements, risk assessments and specified reporting responsibilities.
Appropriate supervision and emergency arrangements will be agreed before provision begins.

If a safeguarding concern or disclosure arises, Different Path Education Support will:

• Take the concern seriously.
• Allow the individual to communicate in their preferred or accessible way.
• Avoid leading questions or conducting an independent investigation.

6. Individual Risk Assessments and Supervision
Different Path Education Support recognises that children and young people have different developmental, educational, emotional, behavioural and safeguarding needs.

The level of direct supervision will be determined by the individual risk assessment and agreed arrangements.

Before and during provision, consideration will be given to:

Adult safeguarding practice will consider the individual's circumstances, wishes, communication needs, capacity and right to make decisions.

13. Missing Learners and Unexpected Absence
Different Path Education Support recognises the importance of monitoring attendance and responding promptly where a learner is unexpectedly absent or leaves an agreed learning area.

• Following agreed missing-learner procedures.

Appropriate lone-working arrangements will be maintained, including:

15. Safer Working, DBS and Training
Different Path Education Support is committed to appropriate safeguarding training, safer working practices and professional accountability.
The proprietor holds an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate covering the relevant child and adult workforce activities, subject to applicable eligibility and suitability requirements.

Records may include:
• Dates and times of concerns.
• Factual observations.
• Details of disclosures.

5. Bookings and Scheduling
Session dates, times, durations and locations will be agreed in advance.
Clients are responsible for providing accurate contact details and informing Different Path Education Support of any relevant changes.

Less than 24 hours' notice
Where a session is cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice, a cancellation charge of up to 50% of the agreed session fee may apply.
The charge will reflect a reasonable estimate of the losses directly resulting from the cancellation, taking account of costs saved and reasonable opportunities to use the reserved time for alternative work.
A cancellation charge will not be imposed merely as a penalty.

Non-attendance
Where a client fails to attend without providing notice, the same late-cancellation arrangements may apply.

Exceptional circumstances
Illness, family emergencies, safeguarding concerns and other exceptional circumstances will be considered individually.
Cancellation charges may be reduced or waived where appropriate.
These terms do not override any applicable statutory cancellation rights.

7. Cancellation by Different Path Education Support
Occasionally, sessions may need to be cancelled due to illness, emergencies, safeguarding concerns or unavoidable circumstances.
Clients will be informed as soon as reasonably possible.
An alternative session may be offered where suitable.
Where Different Path Education Support cancels a session and a suitable alternative cannot be agreed, payment for the undelivered session will be refunded.
Any additional statutory rights remain unaffected.

8. Statutory Consumer Cancellation Rights
Where a consumer enters into a qualifying distance or off-premises service contract, a statutory 14-day cancellation period will normally apply.
Where a client requests that services begin during this period, any legally required express request and acknowledgement will be obtained before work starts.
If a consumer exercises a statutory cancellation right after expressly requesting early performance, a proportionate payment may be due for services already provided, where permitted by law.
Where a service has been fully performed following the legally required request and acknowledgement, the statutory right to cancel may be lost.
Information about applicable statutory cancellation rights and how to exercise them will be provided before the relevant contract is entered into.
